Don’t bite the hand that feeds you, they say. But in the case of Javier Mascherano, the maxim should be amended to something like, “don’t kick the guy who’s driving the vehicle carting you off the field.”

On Tuesday night, Argentina was playing Ecuador in a World Cup 2014 qualifier when, late in the 1-1 game, Mascherano suffered an injury that required medical attention on the field. Then, in accordance with standard operating procedure, the Barcelona FC defender was taken off the field on a stretcher.

It really was no big deal—except that, for some inexplicable reason, the idiot lashed out at the driver of the cart, kicking the guy two times. As you would expect, that action earned Mascherano a red card, but the guy still had the nerve to argue the ref’s decision afterward.

Take a look at the whole crazy scene:

Seriously, who does that?

Still, it could have been worse. At least he didn’t strangle a dog.
