Stat Line of the Night — 6/12/2013 — Jordan Lyles

Jordan Lyles

The Houston Astros entered last night sitting in last place in the American League with an abysmal 22-44 record.  It, therefore, goes without saying that wins have been tough for the club to come by since they made their move from the NL to the AL, but they would find a way to add another notch to the win column last night, thanks to an incredible performance on the mound from Jordan Lyles.

Surprisingly, Lyles had a winning record heading into this game (3-1) and while we wouldn’t be awarded his fourth victory of the season, he would pitch a solid seven innings, striking out ten batters while allowing just three hits, two walks and no runs against during the Astros’ 6-1 victory.

Unfortunately for Lyles, he left the game with the score still tied at 0-0 in the eighth, leaving his record at 3-1 on the season.  However, he did lower his ERA to a respectable 3.48, and the 22-year-old also earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
