Jaromir Jagr Was Jaromir Jagr’s Favorite Player Growing Up (Video)
Could you imagine what it would be like to get the chance to play on a pro sports team with your childhood sports idol? The odds are so incredibly slim. For one thing, the ever-so-vast majority of us aren’t even born with the slightest chance of making a living as an athlete. On top of that, most pro athletes really start wearing out around the age of 35, so the chances of your idol still being around if you do finally make it as a pro are very slim. And then, even if the guy is still around, you’d have about a 1-in-30 chance of actually winding up on the same team. So the odds of realizing such childhood dreams really are remote.
However, the Boston Bruins’ David Krejci is living out his dreams right now. The 27-year-old center from the Czech Republic has made a name for himself with the Boston Bruins in recent years, and this year, when the Bruins traded for Jaromir Jagr, Krejci was given the opportunity to play with his childhood hero.
Of course, it’s that bit of knowledge that recently prompted some producers over at CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada to have a little fun. They decided to do one of those “players saying things about themselves” bits in which they would have each guy say who his favorite player was growing up as a kid. Obviously, Krejci would say Jagr. But who would Jagr say?
See for yourself:
I have to give Jagr some credit for keeping a straight face for that long. Jimmy Fallon is a professional comedian and he could never make it more than ten seconds into an SNL skit without cracking up.
