Adrien Broner Reminded Paulie Malignaggi that He “Left With His Belt and His Girl” on Saturday Night (Video)
They say you shouldn’t talk the talk if you can’t walk the walk.
Apparently these are words that Adrien Broner lives by. Back in May, at a press conference announcing his welterweight title bout against Paulie Malignaggi at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Broner’s trash-talking got pretty interesting when he called Malignaggi’s ex-girlfriend and put her on speakerphone—the implication being that he and the woman, Jessica Corazon, were an item.
Malignaggi’s response? He said Corzaon wasn’t really all that special to him, even when they were dating. “She’s just somebody I slept with,” he explained.
Of course, last Thursday, Broner brought Corazon with him to the final press conference before Saturday’s fight, and judging from Malignaggi’s reaction, it didn’t seem like she was just another hookup. Paulie and Jessica got into a pretty heated shouting match, and the former eventually left the press conference without talking to reporters.
Meanwhile, Jessica stayed behind to tell her side of the story:
So what really did happen between Malignaggi and Corazon? Who knows. But Broner definitely got a rise out of him, and it may very well have distracted him from the most important thing: winning the bout on Saturday night.
That’s right—Broner won the bout by slit decision to improve to 27-0 and sink Malignaggi to 32-5. And of course, he didn’t let the whole “I’m nailing your ex” thing go after the fight, either. Take a look:
Like I said, Broner talks the talk, but he also walks the walk. He’s definitely the most entertaining man in boxing right now.
