Stat Line of the Night — 6/25/2013 — Rickie Weeks
The Milwaukee Brewers have been a major disappointment this season, as they found themselves in a tie for last place in the NL Central with a 31-43 record heading into last night game against the Chicago Cubs, who just so happened to be the other last-place team in the NL Central. But after the final out of last night’s game at Minute Maid Park had been recorded, there was only one last place team in the NL Central, and it wasn’t the Brewers thanks in large part to the bat of Rickie Weeks.
Hitting from the sixth spot in the Brewers’ order, Weeks accounted for more than half of his team’s runs. He started off by cashing in one run via a fifth inning double, and he would later come around to score on a Caleb Gindl single in the same inning. Then Weeks decided to show off some of his power with a two-run homer in the sixth inning and a solo shot in the eighth to cap off Milwaukee’s 9-3 victory.
Weeks finished the game going 3-for-4 at the dish with a double, two homers, three runs and four RBIs—numbers that were good enough to earn his team the win, while earning himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
