With a 17-fight win streak, an undefeated UFC record and the Middleweight Championship all on the line, Anderson Silva felt that the best way to defend his title against Chris Weidman at UFC 162 on Saturday was to act as if he had been dazed and confused while dodging punches from the challenger. Unfortunately for the champ, however, that strategy would result in him getting dazed and confused for real.
Weidman caught “The Spider” with a left hook while the former champ was attempting to play possum during the second round of their bout, and he followed up that left hook with several more blows to the head of a defenseless Silva before the fight was eventually stopped and a new champion was crowned.
