Ian Desmond Shaved His Beard Between At Bats Last Night (Video)
With a .278 ERA, 15 home runs and 49 RBIs on the season, Ian Desmond has earned himself a spot on the ballot for the final roster position on the National League All-Star team; however, things haven’t been going well for the Nats’ shortstop as of late, as he was without a hit in two straight games heading into last night’s contest against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Sure, two games without a hit may not seem like that big of a deal, but apparently it was enough to get in Desmond’s head. So after he hit into a double play in his first at bat during the first inning of last night’s game, he decided to get rid of his goatee, which must have been responsible for all of the bad luck he has endured at the plate as of late.

In case you were wondering, Desmond would go on to fly out and ground out in his next two at bats before finally breaking through with a single in the eighth inning.
So, does that mean it was, or wasn’t the beard’s fault?
