EA Sports to Commemorate 20th Anniversary of ‘NHL 94’ by Including Modernized Version in ‘NHL 14’ (Video)
If you are over the age of 25 and you like hockey video games, then chances are your favorite game of all-time was EA Sports’ NHL 94.
Of course, you youngsters probably don’t get it. You all are used to Master Chief and GTA and The Show, so you can’t comprehend how we could all be so impressed by organ music customized for each team, the ability to take one-timers, and a little cracked glass. But back then, those were amazing features.
Well, for those of you who happen to be really bad at math, let me point out the obvious: this year marks the 20th anniversary of that iconic hockey video game. And to celebrate, EA Sports is including a modernized version of it on their upcoming NHL 14. The simulation engine will be the same one used in the current version of the game, but the camera angles will be those of NHL 94, as will the music—that glorious MIDI organ music.
Oh, and best of all, you will be able to play with the greatest video game hockey player of all-time: NHL 94 Jeremy Roenick…plus Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.
Basically, you’ll be buying NHL 14 just for the NHL 94 feature. (It hits stores September 10.)
