Stat Line of the Night — 7/11/2013 — Freddie Freeman
Yesterday night, Freddie Freeman learned that Braves fans had helped him earn enough votes to secure the final spot on the National League All-Star team, and he decided to repay them by using his bat to guide their team, and his, to a victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
The All-Star first baseman started things off with a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at 2-2, and he would follow that up with RBI singles in the second and fourth innings. Freeman finished the day going 3-for-4 at the dish (and 3-for-3 with runners in scoring position) with four RBIs, as the Braves escaped with a 6-5 victory.
While some were calling for Yasiel Puig to earn the final N.L. roster spot, Freeman’s .313 batting average, nine home runs and 60 RBIs are certainly worthy of the spot as well. And his performance last night was worthy of “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, July 11, 2013.
