‘Extreme Sport Drummer’ Tom Grosset Sets Guinness Record for Fastest Drummer (Video)
Is “Extreme Sport Drumming” really a sport? Yeah, I guess not. But it has “sport” in the name, and it’s all about people doing something really fast while setting world records, so that’s good enough for me.
At the Summer NAMM 2013, a music instruments and products trade show held last weekend in Nashville, Tennessee, Extreme Sport Drumming held their “World’s Fastest Drummer” competition. And while I can’t figure out who actually won the event (because their website is, um, not so great), I do know that this incredibly talented guy named Tom Grosset set a new Guinness World Record for fastest drummer, recording 1,208 single strokes in 60 seconds.
The record he beat? It was 1,203 strokes and was set by a guy named Mike Mangini in 2003. Take a look:
So there you go—the world’s greatest “Extreme Sport Drummer.”
And in case you were wondering, Grosset doesn’t just play the drums fast. He also plays them well. You can check out his YouTube page to see some of his work.
