Stat Line of the Night — 7/21/2013 — Bartolo Colon

What’s Bartolo Colon‘s secret?  Is it a new workout routine?  Perhaps a healthier diet?  Or maybe it’s the steroids!  Whatever it is, it sure as hell seems to be working, because at the age of 40, the righty is currently in the midst of his best season ever.

Colon entered yesterday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels with a 12-3 record on the season, and he would exit the game with a 13-3 record after putting together his second complete-game shutout of the season.  He would allow just four hits and one walk throughout the afternoon, while striking out five during the Athletics’ 6-0 victory.

With the win, Colon now improves to 13-3 on the season with a 2.52 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP.  Perhaps the only thing that can derail him at the moment is a PED suspension from MLB commissioner Bud Selig, because the Angels certainly couldn’t slow him down, as Bartolo earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, July 21, 2013.
