The Cleveland Indians were looking to finish off their three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers while extending their winning-streak to four on Sunday, and they had the right man on the mound in Ubaldo Jimenez.

With a 7-5 record and a 4.49 ERA heading into yesterday’s start, Jimenez was able to put forth what may very well be his most impressive performance of the 2013 season, as he allowed just two hits and three walks over eight shutout innings.  Jimenez would also rack up six strikeouts before turning things over to the Indians’ bullpen.  And from there, Vinnie Pestano would close things out, securing the Tribe’s 6-0 victory over the Rangers.

With the win, the Indians remain just one game back of the final AL Wild Card spot and three games back of the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers.  As for Jimenez, he improves to 2-1 with a 2.83 ERA during the month of July, and he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, July 28, 2013.
