Fan Runs Onto Field During Everton-Juventus Friendly and Takes Asamoah’s Penalty Kick (Video)

fan runs onto field takes penalty kick

No offense to the MLS, but American soccer fans don’t get too many chances to see top flight clubs. So it’s understandable that, when such clubs come for a visit each summer on their exhibition tours, fans will want to make the very most of it. And for one soccer fan in San Francisco last night, “making the most” of it meant running onto the field and scoring a goal.

Sadly, while said fan succeeded in the “running onto the field” part, he did not fair so well in the “scoring a goal” part.

With Everton and Juventus tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the game went straight to penalties. And as Juventus’ Kwadwo Asamoah lined up to take his shot, the adventurous fan ran out and took the shot himself, which was caught by Everton keeper Tim Howard.

Take a look:

Of course, while the fan would probably have preferred the story to go, “yeah, this one time I scored a goal against Everton,” at least he can now say that he had his shot stopped by one of the best goalies in the world. So that’s something.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Everton won the shootout 6-5.
