Stat Line of the Night — 8/19/2013 — Nate Schierholtz
The 2013 season has been another disappointing one for the Chicago Cubs, but that hasn’t been the case for Nate Schierholtz. The 29-year-old right fielder entered Monday night with career highs in home runs (16) and RBIs (52), and he added to those totals in a big way during his team’s series opener against the Washington Nationals last night.
In four plate appearances, Schierholtz went 3-for-4 with a double and two homers. He would cash in a total of six runs on the evening, as the Cubs routed the Nats by a score of 11-1.
Following that performance, Schierholtz is now batting .277 with 18 homers and 58 RBIs. It has certainly been a career-year for the six-year veteran, and his latest outing earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, August 19, 2013.
