Check Out This Crazy Finish from a High School Football Game (Video)
You know, in hindsight, the coach of the Copperas Cove High School Bulldawgs probably wishes he had not called for a squib kick on the final play of their game against the Texas A&M Consolidated High School Tigers.
That’s not to say he is kicking himself for it. On paper, it was a good call. His team had just kicked a field goal to break a tie game with one second left on the clock. A squib kick in that scenario makes all kinds of sense because it ensures that the ball doesn’t go straight to the other team’s designated kick returner while also allowing your special teams players to be all over the ball.
In this particular case, however, it didn’t work out for the Bulldawgs. The Tigers used a series of lateral passes and some pretty speedy players to run the ball all the way back for a wild, almost unbelievable game-winning touchdown.
