Chargers Receiver Malcom Floyd was Carted Off the Field Following This Hit (GIF)
The San Diego Chargers played a remarkable game yesterday, out-“Chip Kellying” Chip Kelly and the Eagles for about 6,000 yards of total offense and a big 33-30 win.
Fortunately, today they can actually enjoy this Week 2 victory, because wide receiver Malcom Floyd is going to be okay after an extremely terrifying hit.
On the first play of the second half, Floyd was going for a pass up the middle from QB Philip Rivers when a bump from behind by the Eagels’ Nate Allen sent him head-first into a hit from DeMeco Ryan. Upon impact, Floyd’s head got jammed down into his shoulder pads like a collapsing radio antenna. Then he fell to the ground and layed motionless as teammates gathered around and medical staff ran to the scene.
He was taken away on a stretcher and driven to the hospital for a CT scan…which came back negative. So all is well in Chargers’ Land. But initially, at least, you couldn’t help but fear the worst. Take a look:
