Here’s Jim Leyland Crying and Moonwalking After the Tigers Clinched the AL Central (Video + GIF)
I’ve never been a particularly big fan of Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland. Got nothing against him, mind you, but I’ve never found any particular reason to hold him near and dear to my heart.
That’s all changed today, however. Now I am a big Jim Leyland fan. I mean, how can you not love a crusty 68-year-old baseball man who chokes up when talking about his players and their fans, then goes and does the moonwalk?
That’s what the scene was like in his office last night. The Motor City Kitties beat the Twinkies to wrap up their third consecutive AL Central crown last night, and while talking to reporters in his office after the game, Leyland got a little emotional as he thanked his players and the fans who support the team. It was really, genuinely touching. And then Torii Hunter came in, picked Leyland up, and carried him into the clubhouse, where he got a champagne shower and did the moonwalk.
And no, I am not kidding. Jim Leyland did the moonwalk.

You’re rooting for the Tigers to win the World Series now, aren’t you?
