Mr. Carrie Underwood Hit the Leafs’ Cody Franson Face-First into the Turnbuckle Last Night (Video)
In the NHL, you’re not allowed to push players from behind into the boards. And this infraction is especially frowned upon when the section of the boards we’re talking about is the corner piece at the end of the benches. So Carrie Underwood is going to have to sit down and have a little talk with her husband, Mike Fisher, about this.
Last night, with the Maple Leafs in Nashville taking on Fisher’s Predators, the gritty forward got a little over-agressive with Toronto’s Cody Franson and shoved him face-first into said section of the boards.
Now, the NHL has mandated changes to that section of the boards so that it’s now a curved piece of glass instead of a hard 90º angle. But that’s still the last place you want to get hit, and judging by all the blood left on the ice, it still hurt Franson pretty badly.
Take a look:
Franson left the game and did not return, and Fisher received a game-misconduct for his troubles. Since it wasn’t a particularly vicious play, Fisher probably won’t receive any further sanctions. But he will have to be more careful from here on out, or the next time it will likely cost him a few games.
