With the St. Louis Cardinals owning a 2-0 lead in the NLCS, the Dodgers needed a solid performance from starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu in Game Three if they wanted to keep their hopes of playing in their first World Series since 1988 alive.

Ryu would provide his team with exactly what they were looking for, out-dueling Cards’ ace Adam Wainwright during his seven scoreless innings of work.  He would allow only three hits and one walk while striking out four, before giving way to the Dodgers’ bullpen.  And from there, both Brian Wilson and Kenley Jansen combined to close out the 3-0 victory for Los Angeles.

With the series now 2-1 in favor of the Cardinals, the Dodgers have a great opportunity to tie things up today when the two teams meet for Game 4 in L.A.  Ryu’s performance has certainly put them right back in this series, and he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, October 14, 2013.
