Past Instances of Richie Incognito Bullying Jonathan Martin on Social Media Uncovered (Pics + Video)
Everyone already knew Dolphins guard Richie Incognito is a huge scumbag. So was it really surprising when we heard he left racist voicemail messages for Miami teammate Jonathan Martin? Not really, no. They were horrifying and disgusting to read, but not particularly surprising.
Now, of course, intrepid reporters are scouring the interwebs looking for past clues about the extent of Dick Incognito’s vile nature. And they are turning up some pretty interesting things.
For example, there’s this:
This was posted on Richie’s Instagram account six months ago. Everyone knows rookies get hazed by veterans in the NFL, and it seemed like Incognito was just being funny—you know, because we didn’t know “not liking” meant calling someone a “half [n-word] piece of [excrement].”
Then there’s this:
Again, it’s all about context. If you don’t know what was going on behind closed doors, this just seems like one teammate playfully teasing another. You’d never think this was symptomatic of systematic bullying. But in retrospect, you see that Incognito had done what all bullies do: identified the easiest, weakest target, and attacked.
And, also, there’s this:
This seemed like a silly answer to a silly question at the time. But of course, now we know that “scaring” Jonathan Martin meant threatening to “[defecate] in your mouth” and “slap your real mother across the face.”
And, of course, this is all coming from a guy who, ironically enough, once urged Dolphins fans to stay classy and refrain from using abusive language or threatening other fans:
