Stat Line of the Night — 11/4/2013 — Matt Forte
It’s amazing to think that even with 150 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, the Packers’ Eddie Lacy still wasn’t even the best running back on the field during last night’s Monday Night Football match-up. That’s because he was outdone by the Bears’ Matt Forte.
With Jay Cutler sitting this one out, the Bears looked to Forte to shoulder a heavy load, and he did so with great success, rushing for 125 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, while also adding 5 receptions for 54 yards. He was especially effective during his team’s 9-minute clock-killing dive in the fourth quarter, as he rushed for 32 yards and added a nine-yard reception to help the Bears close out the 27-20 victory.
With the win, the Bears move into a three-way tie with the Packers and the Detroit Lions atop the NFC North. And to make matters even better for the Monsters of the Midway, they should be getting Cutler back very soon. But until that time comes, Forte should be able to shoulder the load. He did so last night, and it earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, November 4, 2013.
