Harlem Globetrotter Nearly Decapitated When Backboard Comes Crashing Down (Video)
When the world famous Harlem Globetrotters take their show to foreign lands, the facilities they play in aren’t always as nice as we’re used to here in North America.
Unfortunately, Globetrotter Bull Bullard found that out the hard (and extremely terrifying) way on a recent tour of Central America.
The Globetrotters were playing a game in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, when Bull dunked the ball, hung on to the rim, and put his feet up on the backboard. This stunt is probably fine at your Toledo Huntington Centers, your Cincinnati US Bank Arenas, or your Rosemont Allstate Arenas. But at the Nacional de Ingenieros Coliseum in Tegucigalpa, apparently, the backboards aren’t quite strong enough for that. So when Bull hung on, he brought the whole thing down…and was very nearly decapitated.
Take a look:
The image alone is scary, but the reaction of the crowd—horror, then complete silence—makes this video downright chilling.
Fortunately, as you can see, Bull was okay. However, I doubt he performs this stunt again any time soon.
