Strong Winds Block Field-Goal During CFL Playoff Game (Video)
The opening round of the playoffs in the Canadian Football League took place over the weekend, and for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes, that meant braving some treacherous weather at Alumni Stadium in Guelph, Ontario.
The Tiger-Cats have been forced to play in Guelph for the 2013 season while they await the opening of their new stadium. But despite playing nearly 50 kilometers away from the city of Hamilton, the Cats must have felt like home-field advantage was still on their side when they watched the 45 km/h winds (with gusts of up to 66 km/h) knock down what should have been a routine 22-yard field-goal attempt from Alouettes kicker Sean Whyte in the second quarter.

So was that missed field-goal the difference in the game? It’s tough to say for sure, as it happened so early. But the Tiger-Cats would go on to win the game in overtime by a score of 19-16, so I’ll let you be the judge.
