Saints’ Jimmy Graham Celebrated His Touchdown by Bending the Uprights Last Night (Video + GIFs)
Last night’s tilt between the Saints and Falcons was, perhaps unexpectedly, a pretty close one.
New Orleans, of course, has regained its swagger this year with the return of head coach Sean Payton, and they came into the game in first place. Atlanta, meanwhile, is having a disastrous season just one year removed from going 13-3 and falling just four points shy of a berth in the Super Bowl. However, at home in the Georgia Dome, the lowly Falcons gave their rivals all they could handle, and the Saints barely survived the low-scoring affair.
In fact, scoring was at such a premium last night that when the Saints’ Jimmy Graham scored a touchdown on a 44-yard pass from Drew Brees in the second quarter, he was extra excited and decided to perform an extra special celebration. So he dunked the football on the uprights…and then hung on to them until they were bent out of shape.
Seriously, it was pretty odd. They had to bring out a maintenance crew with an oversized level to straighten them out before the extra point attempt. Take a look:
Shouldn’t the Saints have gotten some sort of penalty for that? Like a delay of game, or “defacing the uprights”?
