Will Ferrell to Call Canadian Curling Event for TSN as Ron Burgundy (Video)
In case you’ve somehow missed all the trailers, talk show appearances, and Dodge Durango commercials, comedian and renowned sports nut Will Ferrell will be returning to the silver screen as legendary newsman Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2 on December 20.
What’s he doing until then? He’s continuing his relentless North American publicity tour. And on Sunday, December 1, that tour will make a stop in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Ron Burgundy will make his Canadian broadcasting debut as an announcer during the opening day of the “Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings”—which is a curling competition.
Yes, you read that correctly. Ron Burgundy. Calling a curling competition.
Of course, we’ve seen Burgundy do sports before. Or at least, kind of. Most notably, there was that outtake from the original Anchorman that shows Burgundy auditioning for ESPN and claiming an all-sports TV network was “never going to work.”
However, we’ve never seen Burgundy do a live sports event before. And curling is such a ridiculous thing to be watching on television, so you just know it’s going to be good. In fact, it may just double the total viewership of every other television broadcast in the history of the sport combined.
