Bills Receiver Robert Woods Got Ejected For Punching Miami Safety Reshad Jones (GIF)
Yesterday the Buffalo Bills dealt a huge metaphorical punch to the gut of the Miami Dolphins. The 19-0 loss was a huge blow to the Fins’ playoff chances.
Of course, the Bills didn’t just hand out metaphorical blows. Buffalo wide receiver Robert Woods threw a real one, too.
The Bills were up just 10-0 midway through the third quarter, which means the game was still very much up for grabs. On a 2nd and 10 from the Buffalo 18-yard line, Woods somehow got tangled up with Miami safety Reshad Jones, and he didn’t like it. So he decided, hey, I’m gonna punch this guy.
Take a look:
Obviously, it’s always a pretty dumb idea to punch a guy wearing a helmet with your bare fist. However, this case was particularly stupid. The Bills really needed to move the ball up and either score or eat time off the clock. Moreover, it’s not like they were on the bottom of a pile, where you can do pretty much anything you want to a guy. Woods and Jones were out in the open, and the referee was right there. So he got a flag for unnecessary roughness, which cost his team 11 yards. And he got ejected.
