Stat Line of the Night — 1/8/2014 — Justin Fontaine
Through the first 38 games of his NHL career, Minnesota Wild right winger Justin Fontaine had scored a respectable eight goals. In game 39 of his NHL career, he added three more to his career totals.
Despite seeing only 13:23 of ice time, Fontaine was still able to record his first career hat-trick. And those three goals from the rookie would turn out to be the difference, as the Wild cruised to the 4-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.
With the win, the Wild move two points clear of the Coyotes for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They have Fontaine’s goal-scoring outburst to thank, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, January 8, 2014.
