2014 Sochi Olympics: Alex Ovechkin Talks to CBC’s Elliotte Friedman Following Quarterfinal Loss to Finland (Video)
Russia’s men’s hockey team entered the 2014 Sochi Olympics with high expectation, and they exited with their heads held low in shame following a 3-1 quarterfinal loss to Finland earlier today at the Bolshoy Arena.
It was a disappointing Olympic campaign for the Russian men, who had already lost a game to the USA, while failing to impress anyone in victories over Slovenia, Slovakia, and Norway. And that disappointment could be seen on the faces of every Russian player following today’s loss, including Alex Ovechkin, who took part in this somber interview with CBC’s Elliotte Friedman.
Ovechkin obviously wasn’t the only Russian player feeling down after the loss. As Friedman said, the Washington Capitals winger was actually the only member of the team that didn’t storm right through the media zone and into the dressing room.
