Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny Could be Disciplined for Hand Gesture Following Red Card vs. FC Bayern (GIF)
There were two key turning points in yesterday’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match between Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
The first took place during the 31st minute, when Arsenal was forced to bring in Nacho Monreal to replace injured defender Kieran Gibbs. And with Monreal on the pitch, Bayern immediately began to expose his many weaknesses. That led to the second key turning point of the game just six minutes later, when Bayern’s Arjen Robben got behind Monreal and had to be taken down in the box by Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny, which earned him a red card, in addition to the penalty shot.
Bayern’s David Alaba couldn’t convert from the spot, but his team did manage to take advantage of a short-handed Gunners squad by scoring two second half goals to earn them the crucial 2-0 away victory in the first leg.
