Tim Thomas Falls On His Rear, Still Makes Incredible Breakaway Save (GIFs)

Tim Thomas fall save Mike GReen

Since joining the Boston Bruins on a full-time basis in 2005, Tim Thomas has used his unorthodox goaltending style to help him find plenty of success in the NHL.

Some of those larger, more prominent successes include four all-star appearance, two Vezina Trophies as the league’s top goaltender, a Stanley Cup, and a Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.  As for his smaller scale successes that he has experienced as a result of his unorthodox style, we witnessed another one of them last night when Thomas stopped the Washington Capitals’ Mike Green on a breakaway, all while losing his balance and falling on his rear.

Check it out:

And here are two even better angles of that ridiculous glove save by the Panthers goalie:

That’s just the latest highlight reel save in a career filled with many for the unorthodox 39-year-old netminder.
