Watch This Promo for a Fake ’30 for 30′ About Brian ‘White Mamba’ Scalabrine (Video)

brian scalabrine 30 for 30

How do you explain the Brian Scalabrine phenomenon? The guy was an average NBA player at best who averaged 3.1 points per game for his career. However, fans in Boston and Chicago loved the guy and gave him one of the great nicknames in pro sports: the White Mamba. The best I can figure it? People just find it amusing to idolize a mediocre basketball player who happens to have pale white skin and red hair.

In any case, the guy has received several fitting tributes since he announced his retirement in 2012. The NBA gave him his own highlight reel (seriously), and last summer not one but two minor league baseball teams had Brian Scalabrine nights.

However, the tribute you’re about to see is probably the best. It’s a promo for a fake ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on the White Mamba.

Have a look:

Obviously, this is just a joke. All kidding aside, though, I’m pretty sure a 30 for 30 about the White Mamba would be extremely popular. ESPN should totally make that.
