Rob Ryan Was Partying Hard in NOLA for St. Patrick’s Day (Pics)
When the New Orleans Saints hired Rob Ryan to be their defensive coordinator prior to the 2013 NFL season, I must admit I was a little confused. He did really well as the linebackers coach with the Patriots back when the Patriots were winning Super Bowls, but as a defensive coordinator his record with the Raiders, Browns, and Cowboys is mixed—and that assessment is being charitable.
Thus, with head coach Sean Payton returning from his one-year bounty scandal suspension and the Saints looking to rebound from a dismal 2012 and return to contender status, I would have thought they’d look for a defensive coordinator with a stronger résumé.
However, now it’s all starting to make a little more sense. You see, the Saints weren’t really looking for somebody to guide their defense. They needed somebody with sweet hair who knows how to party amd could serve as the face of the organization on the New Orleans party circuit. And for that job, Rob Ryan is perfect. A few weeks ago he served as the grand marshall for one of the city’s Mardi Gras parades, and yesterday he hit the streets of the French Quarter again to help the masses celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Rob Ryan: man of the people.
Honestly, I don’t know why the Saints don’t just make him their mascot.
