KHL Fans Celebrate Playoff Win by Giving Star Player a Concussion (Video)

khl hockey fans give player concussion

Hockey fans in Astana, Kazakhstan, have never seen their local pro team win a KHL playoff series. So when Barys Astana swept Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in the opening round last week, they were excited.

How excited were they? So excited that a group of them went to meet the team’s plane at the airport, then proceeded to grab the guy who set up the series-winning goal—28-year-old Talgat Zhailauov—and toss him in the air in celebration.

Of course, they also dropped Talgat Zhailauov on his head, and so he had to go straight from the airport to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion.

This is why most hockey teams prefer that fans not pick up the players.

Luckily for Barys Astana, they’re still awaiting their opponent for round two, which won’t begin until next week. So hopefully poor Talgat can recover and rejoin his team by them.
