Quebec Junior Hockey Player Loses Fingertip After Blocking a Slapshot (Video)
Let me get this out of the way right off the bat: This article has video of a hockey player getting his finger torn off by an errant slapshot. There’s no metaphor or any other poetic devices being used here The poor guy actually lost his finger.
That poor guy was Jason Fuchs of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. And the most interesting part of the incident from the point of view of the spectator is what happened afterward, as Fuchs’ fellow Huskies searched the ice and the insides of Fuchs’ glove for his missing finger. It ended up being inside his glove. Ouch.
After about 45 minutes, doctors onsite were able to sew up what was left of Jason Fuchs’ pinkie finger. Whether or not Fuchs will ever be able to make a return to hockey is still uncertain, but he was able to go home with the rest of the team after the game.
If you’d like to see footage of Fuchs losing the tip of his pinkie finger, you can below. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it isn’t particularly bloody, but it is sort of tough to watch if you know what you’re looking for.
