Fox News Anchor Congratulates UConn on Their NAACP Championship. Whoops. (Video)
In the wee hours of the morning on Tuesday, after the UConn Huskies defeated the Kentucky Wildcats for their second national championship in four years, Fox & Friends anchor Heather Childers made a pretty hilarious slip of the tongue. Instead of saying the Huskies were the NCAA champions, she said they were the NAACP champions.
Now, I imagine if Ms. Childers worked for CNN or MSNBC, her little mistake wouldn’t have drawn so much attention. We’d all have a good laugh, but then we’d move on because these things happen. People slip up and say the wrong things.
However, Heather Childers does not work for CNN or MSNBC. She works for Fox News, and Fox News is always gunning for “special interest groups” like the NAACP that are ruining America. So when you combine this with the fact that most of UConn’s player are black? Yeah, it’s kind of hard not to find this flub particularly amusing.
Have a look:
Did you see that? Her face flinches ever so slightly, and you can tell she realizes what she just said almost immediately. However, she had no choice but to keep smiling and pray nobody was recording a stupid cable news segment airing in the middle of the damn night.
Of course, somebody was recording it. And that’s why we love the internet.
