Giants’ Minor Leaguer Darren Ford Stretchered Off After Diving Head First Into a Wall (Video)
One of the most important components of being an outfielder in baseball is having a keen sense of where you are in relation to the ball, the players, and any hazardous objects around you at all times. Once you see what happened to Darren Ford after a badly timed dive for a foul ball, you’ll see why.
Ford plays for the Fresno Grizzlies, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. His head-on collision with the wall happened at Salt Lake City on Thursday night, and when he smashed into the wall like he did, it’s easy to imagine his teammates and everyone in the crowd fearing the worst. Luckily, he only suffered a concussion and was reported never to have even lost consciousness:
