Derek Jeter Retirement Tour: Angels Present Captain with Pinstripe Paddleboard (Pic)
Everywhere the Yankees play this year, Derek Jeter is going to be getting outlandish gifts. Because that’s what you do now when a superstar hangs it up—you give him things he doesn’t really need but could totally buy himself if he wanted.
Jeter’s first such retirement gift was a pair of pinstriped cowboy boots, a stetson hat, a set of golf clubs, a trip to Florida, and some golf lessons with Butch Harmon. That was courtesy of the Houston Astros last month.
The latest gift? That came last night, courtesy of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Orange County, California, USA. And no, it’s not a giant surfboard. It’s a paddle board—because Jeter is old, and surfing is hard.
Hopefully Jeter’s trophy room has really high ceilings.
