Donald Sterling Finally Speaks Publicly, Denies Being a Racist in Interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper (Video)
At long lost, embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling finally sat down for a face-to-face interview to tell his side of the “Donald Sterling is a crazy old racist” story. The interview with Anderson Cooper won’t air until tonight, of course, but CNN has released previews, and they already sound absolutely hilarious.
Seriously. Hilarious. It’s like the guy doesn’t know we’ve all heard the entire 15-minute tape or something.
“It’s so painful to me because I’m not a racist, and I’ve never been a racist,” Sterling says, apparently under the impression that nobody remembers any of the crazy racist shit he’s said in the past. Then he went on to claim V. Stiviano set him up.
“I don’t know why the girl had me say those things,” he laments. “I was baited. I mean, that’s not the way I talk. I don’t talk about people for one thing, ever. I talk about ideas and other things, but I don’t talk about people.”
No really. Sterling said that! He also badmouthed Magic Johnson, saying he hasn’t done enough to help minorities. Nice!
But hey, everyone, he’s really sorry. “I made a terrible, terrible mistake. And I’m here with you today to apologize and to ask for forgiveness for all the people that I’ve hurt.”
You can catch the entire interview tonight at 8 p.m. ET on CNN.
