Magical Puck Somehow Stays Out of Kings’ Net During Game 2 vs. Blackhawks (GIFs)

Magical puck hawks-kings game 2

The Los Angeles Kings probably didn’t need much luck during their impressive 6-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 2 of their Western Conference Finals series, but they got some anyway.

That bit of luck for the Kings came during the first period with the game still tied, 0-0.  It was then that a bouncing puck in front of their goal appeared destined to cross the goal line, but in the midst of all the commotion going on in Jonathan Quick‘s crease, the puck somehow took a magical bounce and traveled across the line before being swatted away by Kings forward Tyler Toffoli.

Here’s a look at how it all went down:

Here it is from another angle:

And here it is from the first angle again, but this time in super-slow motion:

The Kings’ Willie Mitchell did earn himself a penalty on the play (you may have noticed him crosschecking the Hawks’ Peter Regin from behind in either of the above GIFs) and the Blackhawks would capitalize on their powerplay with the first goal of the game.  But after scoring another, it was all L.A. from there, as the Kings scored six unanswered, including five in the third period, to tie the best-of-seven series at 1-1.
