Donald Sterling Attends Service at Black Church, So I Guess He’s Not a Racist AFTER All (Pic)
As you’ve probably heard, (soon-to-be former) Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is a racist. He doesn’t think he’s a racist, mind you, or at least that’s what he says. It may very well be that, deep down, he knows he is a racist but doesn’t want to be a racist. And certainly, at the very least, it’s clear that he does not want people to think he’s a racist. But we all think he is, because we’ve heard the things he says.
Nevertheless, the man is nothing if not persistent. So on Sunday, the 80-year-old Jew went to all the trouble of attending a Christian church service at predominantly black Praises of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in South Los Angeles…and telling KNBC Los Angeles about it in advance.
Sterling received a warm welcome (see the clapping in the photo?), and Pastor Benjamin Hardwick said they were all praying for him (to be less racist?). Afterward Sterling said he went there to “support” the church (because Lord knows the rich black people aren’t going to do it, right Donald?) and that the service was “beautiful.”
Obviously we were all wrong. Donald Sterling is a terrific guy.
