Breast Reduction Surgery Catapults Simona Halep to Top of Women’s Tennis (Pic)
Chances are, at some point in your internet travels, you have encountered those photos of the incredibly busty female tennis player. And, chances are, you thought they were fake.
They were not fake, though. Those photos, from the 2008 French Open, were of then-17-year-old Simona Halep, and she really did have those breasts.
She doesn’t anymore, though. In 2009 Halep had breast reduction surgery in an attempt to improve her quality of life and her tennis game, going from a DD to a C cup.
“My ability to react quickly was worse, and my breasts made me uncomfortable,” she explained. “It’s the weight that troubles me. My breasts made me uncomfortable when I play. I don’t like them in my everyday life, either. I would have gone for surgery even if I hadn’t been a sportswoman.”
So why am I bringing all this up now? Because it would appear that the breast reduction surgery is finally paying off.
By 2011, Halep had gone from No. 352 to No. 58, which was great. However, right now the 22-year-old is the No. 4 seed at the French Open. And after knocking off American Sloane Stephens yesterday, Halep is one more win away from reaching her first ever Grand Slam semifinals. In fact, as the highest seed remaining in the women’s draw—Maria Sharapova is No. 7—at this point Halep is the favorite to win it all.
It just goes to show you that there’s a hell of a lot more to life than an impressive rack.
