Beats by Dre Drops Epic Five-Minute World Cup Commercial Packed with Superstar Cameos (Video)

Ten years ago, who would have thought a company that makes overpriced headphones would become such a huge player in the world of sports?

Beats by Dre headphones are more style than substance, but that’s exactly the point. Style matters. Athletes want to listen to the tunes that get them pumped up before a big game, and they want to look good doing it. For this reason, Beats headphones have turned up on the heads of sports superstars at just about every major sporting event on earth in recent years. The Super Bowl, NBA Finals, UEFA Champions League, Olympics—you name it, and Beats were there. It started out as product placement, but now they’ve become an integral part of the pre-game ritual.

And that brings us to the new Beats by Dre World Cup commercial. It’s a five-minute cameo-laden epic that, appropriately enough, is a celebration of the pre-game ritual.

It starts off with Brazilian golden boy Neymar, who’s pre-game ritual involves talking to his dad on the phone. Then we get a thumping track by X Ambassadors & Jamie N Commons called “Jungle,” and soon we’re looking at all sorts of pre-game rituals from athletes, musicians, broadcasters, and fans. (The one at the 3:00 mark is particularly interesting. I’m going to have to try that.)

The Cameos? Well, there’s Bastian Schweinsteiger, Cesc Fabregas, Jozy Altidore, Luis Suarez, Mario Goetze, Daniel Sturridge, Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie. And that’s just the soccer players. The non-soccer players I’ll let you spot yourself.

Take a look:

Damn. Now I kind of have the urge to go buy some $200 headphones and go play some soccer. Weird.
