Let’s Watch Elementary School Kids Freak Out When Michael Jordan Just Walks Into Their Classroom (Video)
When I was a kid, if Dr. J suddenly just walked into my classroom, we all would have been like, who the hell is that old guy? But of course, times were different then. Athletes weren’t also brands.
Things are different, though, with Michael Jordan. He recently surprised a bunch of kids at Charlotte’s Hornets Nest Elementary—yes, Hornets Nest Elementary—by just showing up in their classroom. And though none of the kids were even born the last time he played basketball in the NBA, they went absolutely nuts and swarmed him. (See what I did there?)
Take a look:
Jordan’s visit was part of the Charlotte Hornets (née Bobcats) “Swarm to Serve” day of service, in which the entire organization (in partnership with Fox Sports Carolinas and Lowes) spent a whole day refurbishing Hornets Nest Elementary.
Everyone knew all about the event in advance, of course, because the team issued a press release (that’s why teams do these things, after all: good publicity). However, the kids still didn’t quite expect His Airness to walk through that door.
