2014 World Cup Opens With Own Goal by Brazil’s Marcelo vs. Croatia (Video)
The World Cup promises to provide plenty of spectacular goals between now and the finals on July 13th. But the opening marker that got things rolling at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil will certainly not be making the tournament highlight reel.
However, it probably will find its way onto the tourney blooper reel.
That’s because it came by way of a dreaded own goal off the boot of Brazil’s Marcelo, just 11 minutes into their opening match against Croatia.
Luckily for Marcelo and his Brazilian teammates, they were able to respond by burying three into the Croatian goal, giving them the 3-1 victory.
