Bill Simmons Is a Big Baby (Video)
I like Bill Simmons. He’s a good writer, and Grantland is pretty great.
That being said, he can be a bit of a baby sometimes, and last night was one of those times.
During ESPN’s post-game wrap-up of Game 4 of the NBA Finals, it took a pretty long time for moderator Sage Steele to get Simmons in on the discussion—seven minutes, forty-four seconds to be exact. Obviously, that’s a bit too long, and any analyst in that situation would be annoyed. However, the professional thing to do would be to grin, bear it, and then mention it to the producer in the most constructive terms possible after the show.
But that’s not what Simmons did. When he finally got the nod to chime in, he showed up his colleagues with a snide, sarcastic comment.
Take a look:
Steele does her very best to remain composed here, but she just cannot hold back that subtle shake of the head and glance at the producer. Which is hilarious.
And do you want to know the really amazing thing? You don’t see it in this little clip, but Simmons was actually talking about the Heat here. However, he was so busy coming up with his snarky comment while waiting for his turn to talk that he misspoke and said the Spurs instead.
That’s what you get for acting like a douche.
