Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson Had an Un-Spectacular Debut in the CFL (Video)
Chad Johnson spent yesterday reminding us how difficult it is to come back from giving yourself a goofy name and flaunting a blonde mohawk—very difficult.
In his debut with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes, he hauled in just one catch for 13 yards.
Here’s a video of the “highlight”:
Before reading too much into that stat line, be advised that it was a preseason game. Also, it was a CFL game, so it probably doesn’t merit that much “reading into” in the first place. Johnson spent last season with the Patriots, and his last game played was actually the 2012 Super Bowl against the Giants.
Johnson had signed with the Dolphins in 2012 following his break-up with the Pats, but he was released following an arrest for domestic battery before the season started.
It remains to be seen if Johnson has any gas left in the tank, as his generation of wideouts had a propensity to flame out in spectacular fashion. But we don’t need to speculate, because we’ll have all season to watch it play out in the CFL.
