Hope Solo Arrested on Two Counts of Domestic Assault
Early Saturday morning in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland, Washington, women’s soccer star Hope Solo was arrested for domestic assault, and the alleged victims were Solo’s half-sister, Terry, and her 17-year-old son.
Police say they were called to a Kirkland residence around 1 A.M. for a noise disturbance and an assault. When they got there, they found a big party which they described as “an out of control situation.” Witnesses then told them there was some sort of altercation between an intoxicated Solo, her sister, and her nephew, and that Solo was the aggressor.
At this point we don’t really know what happened, or who the witnesses are. And, as you would expect, Solo’s lawyer says that it was his client who was the victim. But police said there were visible injuries on Solo’s sister and nephew, so she was the one taken to the slammer.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the outspoken 32-year-old USWNT goalie has been involved in a domestic disturbance. Back in November of 2012, her then-boyfriend (now-husband), former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, was arrested after a domestic dispute involving Solo and members of her family. However, Solo maintained that she was not assaulted, and they got married a few weeks later.
Obviously, at this point it’s way too early to label Solo as a violent person. But it is certainly fair to say that she and the people with whom she associates have some “personal issues” they need to work through.
