Carlton Throws Out First Pitch at State College’s ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Night (Tweets and Video)

Screen Shot 2014-06-30 at 8.50.36 PMMinor league teams have very little to lose when it comes to marketing (they have so few fans to actually alienate), which means they can run all sorts of wacky, tacky, and fun promotions to generate a few headlines, and they’ll never be taken less seriously than they already are.

You may remember a while back, the State College Spikes (weird name, I know, but just know that they’re the Class-A affiliate of the Cardinals), unveiled the most awesome sports jerseys ever in a proposed connection with a “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” night at the ballpark. The story and the jerseys can be seen here and are simply breathtaking.

Even in a world this difficult, sometimes dreams DO come true. Last night, Fresh Prince Night was held in State College, PA. And Alfonso Ribeiero, aka “Carlton Banks,” was there to throw out the first pitch. I could describe the majesty further, but it’s better to witness firsthand.
