Watch This Kevin Kiermaier Line Drive Rip a Hole in Eric Hosmer’s Glove (Video)

eric hosmer glove malfunction

You probably haven’t heard of Rays rookie Kevin Kiermaier, because he’s a rookie, and also because he plays for the Rays. However, the kid is leading his team with a robust .542 slugging percentage, and from now on you will probably always know him as the guy who ripped a goddamn hole in the glove of Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer with a line drive.

It happened in the bottom of the seventh inning last night in Tampa. With nobody on and nobody out, the left-handed Kiermaier ripped a liner down the first base line right at Hosmer, who was positioned to make the catch. However, the ball went right through Hosmer’s stupid glove and deflected to second baseman Omar Infante, who scooped it up and threw Kiermaier out.

Take a look:

Way to go, Eric Hosmer’s glove. You had one job.
