Let’s Get Nostalgic for the World Cup, Which Ended Yesterday, with This Animated Montage (Video)

While the World Cup might offer more soccer than many people can handle, there’s a hole in our hearts where it used to be, now that it’s gone for 47 months.

At this point, it’s easier to look back than look ahead, so Richard Swarbrick released this video of animated moments from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil for us to look back on. Many aren’t immediately recognizable, so it’s a pretty fun game that rewards those who paid attention all month.

What moments do YOU remember from this video:

It isn’t an exhaustive retrospective, because it doesn’t have Brazilian fans sobbing on not one, but two occasions.  But I think I made out Lionel Messi, which is about as deep as my soccer knowledge goes.

The style used by Swarbrick is pretty distinct and has a timeless, dreamy quality to it, so it’s easy to get a little nostalgic less than 24 hours after the damn thing ended.
